Pool Construction Tips

Hi, I'm Mandy. If you're looking for tips on pool construction, you've come to the right place. We've just had a new pool installed and I'm full of advice! When I started on our pool I thought it would be an easy build. Boy, was I wrong. I didn't know anything about building a pool apart from the fact I wanted one. Luckily, our construction company set me straight. They helped me work out how big the pool could be and they showed me which shape would suit our yard space. They sorted out permits and even gave me advice on fencing. To find out what I learned, read through my blog. Hope it helps!

5 reasons to choose timber pallets over plastic pallets

by Bessie Beck

Warehouses and factories often require pallets. There are environmental and cost benefits to choosing timber pallets over plastic for your shipping and storage. There are other benefits to choosing wooden pallets as well. Here are the top five.

1. Timber pallets are easier to find.

If you need to get something shipped to a customer or client quickly, the fact that timber pallets have a wide availability can make them a better alternative to plastic pallets. Because of their wide availability, wooden pallets can be ordered in bulk which leads to the next point.

2. Timber pallets are cheaper

Compared with their plastic and metal alternatives, timber pallets are cheaper. This is partly because they are more widely available and partly because wooden pallets are more widely available used and second hand. Some groups and individuals will even give away second-hand timber pallets for free. However, when buying secondhand pallets, it is always advisable to make sure that the supplier you're buying from is a licensed second-hand dealer.

3. Timber pallets can be recycled

If environmental concerns are a primary factor for your storing and transportation business, then wooden pallets give you the environmental advantage over plastic. Timber pallets can easily be reused and recycled, unlike plastic containers which wind up in a landfill. There is also a large market for second-hand wooden pallets, so the environmental benefits can wind up being cost-effective as well.

4. Timber pallets are sturdy.

Plastic pallets easily snap under the weight of heavy shipping materials. Because pallets are often moved by heavy equipment such as forklifts, they need to be durable. Pallets not only travel from warehouse to warehouse but they also often travel within warehouses. Wooden pallets are less likely to bend and break on conveyor belts as well. The sturdiness of timber pallets can set minds at ease as there is a better chance of shipments arriving undamaged.

5. Timber Pallets are easily repaired.

Plastic is difficult to repair and when a plastic pallet is broken or snapped it will usually be discarded. However, timber pallets are easy to fix with nails and a hammer. Little technical knowledge is required to fix them.

Timber pallets not only offer monetary benefits, but they are also good for the environment and offer peace of mind with their sturdy structure. As long as they are purchased from a licensed supplier they could be the better alternative over plastic pallets.
