Pool Construction Tips

Hi, I'm Mandy. If you're looking for tips on pool construction, you've come to the right place. We've just had a new pool installed and I'm full of advice! When I started on our pool I thought it would be an easy build. Boy, was I wrong. I didn't know anything about building a pool apart from the fact I wanted one. Luckily, our construction company set me straight. They helped me work out how big the pool could be and they showed me which shape would suit our yard space. They sorted out permits and even gave me advice on fencing. To find out what I learned, read through my blog. Hope it helps!

How to Use Temporary Rumble Strips to Wake Up Drivers

by Bessie Beck

Suppose you have responsibility for a major road relining project. In that case, you'll want to ensure that the work goes as smoothly as possible, that you stay within budget and that you maintain an impeccable safety record. You want to ensure, therefore, that all interested parties are aware of the work and that road users who do not use that particular stretch very much will slow down. To do this, you will need to introduce a variety of different traffic calming and management measures, both at the site and in advance. Why should you think about adding temporary rumble strips at a distance, and are they really effective?

Altered State

When drivers have been behind the wheel for extended periods of time, they may fall into a particular physical state, and they often perform some routines on autopilot. They may be able to control the car remarkably well and avoid any incident, but they may not notice any signage that could alert them to danger.

Not Enough

You could, therefore, erect some large and theoretically prominent signs, a kilometre or so away from your worksite. This should give most drivers enough warning that a speed control zone is ahead, but in a small percentage of cases, it may not be enough.

Temporary Rumble Strips

To literally wake up some of these inattentive drivers, think about installing some lateral and temporary rumble strips across the road at an appropriate distance. These can be deployed quite easily and will sit on top of the paved surface when they are secured. They are made from a mixture of modular plastic and polymer and designed to provide both a physical and audible warning once the vehicle drives over.

Sensation

The entire car or truck will vibrate, and the driver will definitely feel the sensation through the steering wheel. The incident will also generate a loud noise, and this will certainly draw attention to the problem ahead.

Wide-Awake

Most drivers in this situation will automatically ease off the throttle pedal and start to apply the brake, and they will be on the lookout for an issue ahead. They will, therefore, be perfectly ready and attentive so they will adhere to any further instructions as they arrive.

Adding to Your List

Add temporary rumble strips to your traffic control shopping list. You can be sure that motorists will be fully alert when they get to your job site.
