Pool Construction Tips

Hi, I'm Mandy. If you're looking for tips on pool construction, you've come to the right place. We've just had a new pool installed and I'm full of advice! When I started on our pool I thought it would be an easy build. Boy, was I wrong. I didn't know anything about building a pool apart from the fact I wanted one. Luckily, our construction company set me straight. They helped me work out how big the pool could be and they showed me which shape would suit our yard space. They sorted out permits and even gave me advice on fencing. To find out what I learned, read through my blog. Hope it helps!

Why Cabinet Makers Are Different From Carpenters

by Bessie Beck

When people are looking for woodworking professionals they can easily be confused by the two main options: carpenters and cabinet makers. At first glance it might seem like the carpenter is the more well versed and holistic expert that you need. However, in construction, the term carpenter is specifically an industry term that does not just mean someone who works with wood. In the same way, a cabinet maker is not someone who just builds cabinets. Here are a few of the differences that should help you understand the major differences.

Cabinet Makers

Cabinet makers are 'carpenters' under the general use of the word because they do primarily work with wood. However, their area of speciality is in creating furniture and fixings that go into the house rather than any structural work. The term 'cabinet makers' hints at this by referencing a common component that they are asked to make: cabinets. However, cabinet makers also make exquisite desks, dressers, chairs, tables, cupboards, stands and so much more. Cabinet makers also virtually always work only in a shop, where they take orders and create them from their materials.

Carpenters

When you say carpenters in the construction industry what you are really referring to are structural carpenters. These professionals work onsite, along with other tradies, to plan, source and construct wooden structures and features on buildings. If you have wooden flooring, walls, verandahs, roofing or basically anything relating to wood then you will need a carpenter. Sometimes this role is clarified as 'structural carpenter' but in general, they are just called carpenters. They don't work too much from their warehouse and are primarily found onsite and almost every construction site will have a few carpenters involved.

What Do You Need?

Carpenters and cabinet makers work in tandem with each other to create wonderful houses and businesses. Often carpenters will recommend cabinet makers they know and have worked with before, and vice versa. If you are only after some new furniture and want it custom made so that you can trust its quality then you should go to a cabinet maker. If you are building any actual structures then you need to meet with carpenters first and then cabinet makers to plan out what your interior will look like. The two do not compete for the same work, and sometimes they both work for the same company that provides holistic timber services. These services can be very helpful to cut out all the extra contracts and paperwork.
